Not sure I believe that, at least not the one pictured. That one’s maybe 15 feet, a ton is pushing it.

A 12 foot white Sturgeon weighs an estimated 1000 pounds. I am going to try to catch a few May. Biggest I have caught is about 9.5 feet. They fight like a small car. Naturally aspirated, of course.

Were there? The record for a European sturgeon, the biggest variety, is 1,571 kg which is only a tonne and a half (still huge for a river fish). That was nearly two hundred years ago and there aren’t any left of anything like that size due to over fishing.
